36 years ago today, February 1, 1984 my mother and I opened the door of Needle Nook Fabrics as the new owners, having purchased the store from Mary Loveland. Mary started the store in 1969 inside The Fabric Shop on east Central, then moved to Boulevard Plaza on May 1, 1970.
It has been a wild and wonderful ride these past years. I have met the most amazing women during this adventure. It is now time to turn the operation of the store to the next generation. Marci Milus has been my manager for over 2 years and she is now purchasing Needle Nook Fabrics.
I have known Marci 20 years and she is an amazing seamstress and teacher. Many of you have met her in person and others know her from placing phone orders. I am so grateful to her for wanting to carry on the traditions at Needle Nook Fabrics.
Robert (aka hubby) and I are moving to Tennessee to be closer to Bryce (our son). We are very excited for this new chapter in our lives. I will still be on facebook, have the same email and look forward to staying in touch with everyone. The next few months are going to be very busy for us making this move and getting settled into our new home. Robert will have a 30X60 garage and I will have a 2 story 20X20 “SHE SHED”/sewing studio. Looking forward to getting it set up so that I can continue teaching. I will miss each and every one of you.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND LETTING ME BE A PART OF YOUR LIVES. It has been a great honor for me to know you as well as your families. I have seen generations pass on their love of sewing from great-grandmother to grandmother to mother to daughter and finally granddaughter. It has been so fulfilling to watch so many share their sewing passions.
